Chapter Seventeen:

Harold looked up at the others sitting around him at the conference table in the secure room and took a sip of his coffee. Currently he, Cynthia, Ridley and a few other support personnel were listening to local police communications through the assistance of a handheld unit one of the staff had retrieved. They had received word less than ten minutes ago that there was a major disturbance somewhere within the southwest industrial park, and Harold immediately called a conference of those he felt could be trusted. Later he would assign additional trusted agents to track those present, to ensure they remained trustworthy. Avidly, they had listened to the police chatter as dozens of vehicles rushed to the assistance of the lone officer at the scene. Harold already knew who was involved and what was causing that isolated destruction. When the police radio chatter indicated an FBI agent by the name of Ridley was on the scene, Harold turned to Ridley, and after giving him a piercing look, simply asked.

"Where's your badge, Ridley?"

"Ahh, it's right..." Ridley's voice trailed off as he patted the breast of his suit jacket then scowled, as he looked up. "Why that sonofabitch!"

"Alright, we need a face on the scene and now. Go to stores. Draw a black set of fatigues and strap on a couple weapons. Rub some dirt or oil on your face and hands, and muss up your hair. You're about to become a hero. Answer no questions at all. Claim federal jurisdiction. Now get moving and have staff make you a spare I.D and get you another badge while you're changing." The last command was barked and gulping, Ridley fled the room at a run. Harold turned to Cynthia.

"Your boy has started. Expect a call from him. The word we had was that location held dozens. He's probably dinged up a bit, he'll need help." At her nod, he continued. "Oh and get Ridley's badge back, will you?" Harold said, as Cynthia smirked while nodding. He leaned back in his chair pondering current and probable future events. A message would be sent and it was about time. But, there would be repercussions. Of that he had no doubt.

Unzipping the black duffle bag, Ethan peered inside and made an educated guess on the amount, based on bundle size, approximate number and the fact they were all hundreds and guessed there were several millions within. Nice addition to the war kitty, he thought, as he pulled the zipper closed again and sat down on the front seat. Very tired, hurting and loosing blood again, damnit! He tossed the duffle in the trunk along with his weapons, harness and armor, then sat down in the car.

Fortunately, he had several compression bandages laid out on the passenger side of the seat and now he wrapped one around his side, then his thigh where blood was flowing freely, then another, using his teeth around his left bicep. Shit, he was a bit damaged this time, he
